Special Thanks

We have many, many people to thank who have helped us along the way during the last three years. Firstly, we want to thank all of the countless individuals who have prayed for us, supported us, and reached out to us, to know that we appreciate each and every one of you, and that the love you have sent our way has carried us through the hardest of times. To Caela’s entire medical team and to her cadre of dedicated nurses, aides, therapists, and administrative staff, especially to you Dr. Malatack, there are no words to express how grateful we are to you for your compassion, skill, and the many late-night hours you spent caring for Caela. It is largely because of the exceptional medical care she received that we know she got every chance to make it…we will never look back and wonder if more could have been done…this is your gift to us. To our pastors, Bishop Johnny L. Weatherbe and Elder Barbara A. Weatherbe, and our Agapé Love Ministries family, you have been steadfast in unwaveringly supporting our family for more than 10 years now. You have and will always be our family in Philly, your unconditional love surrounds us and keeps us strong. To the Overbrook Presbyterian community, particularly Pastor Thomas Spears, thank you for opening your house to us with such warmth…God’s love has been powerfully demonstrated to us through your generosity. Dr. Schanen, Kathy Hunter, and our new-found IRSA family, we feel incredibly blessed that you came into our life when you did…we know our work together will continue for years to come. To Caela’s home-based therapy team, few kids have had as fine a team of therapists…we will always remember how you never gave up on her, never lowered your expectations of her success, helped us adjust to every change that came our way, and cheered every step she made. To Sharon, Caela’s case manager, we especially wanted you to know that in spite of never meeting each other, you had a great impact on Caela’s quality of life and became an unexpected friend to our family. Kim and our Alpha family, you are our rescue team, giving us wise counsel whenever we are in crisis and encouraging us to keep running this Christian race when life is at its hardest. Finally, to our parents and siblings, Caela’s godparents, Debbie and Jimmy, our extended family, and our amazing friends…Caela’s life was incredibly enriched by the boundless love you gave to her and the many ways you brought joy to her life. We know you will continue to be by our side as we heal from our loss together. We love you dearly…
